CPA AUSTRALIA
Three years of progress,
connection and global impact
Welcome to the September 2026 issue of INTHEBLACK.
As my term as CPA Australia’s president and chair draws to a close,
I reflect with pride and gratitude on the growing strength, resilience
and global influence of our members.
Over my past three years as president, it has been an honour and
privilege to serve our profession, engage with members through
INTHEBLACK, and meet members, regulators and stakeholders across
our global network. These conversations have reinforced the vital role
CPAs play in supporting economies, businesses and communities.
Together, we have strengthened CPA Australia. We have expanded
our ESG initiatives, established leadership and academic pathways,
and delivered forums on emerging issues including artificial
intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and the future of business.
Advocacy has remained central to our purpose. CPA Australia has
continued to be a trusted voice on economic, regulatory and public
policy issues, while strengthening relationships with governments,
regulators and professional bodies around the world.
It has been wonderful to see the return of large-scale, in-person
member engagement through CPA Congress, sustainability and
leadership forums, and international events that brought members
together to learn, connect and share ideas.
Throughout my presidency, I have been guided by two ideas:
ubuntu, the belief that “I am because we are”, and OneCPA, our
shared commitment to act as one organisation across every division,
team and geography. Both remind us that our greatest strength lies
in our people, our relationships and our common purpose.
In closing, I sincerely thank deputy presidents Warren McRae and
Louise Cox, my fellow board members, our CEO Chris Freeland AM
and the executive leadership team, together with our staff, volunteers
and councillors, for their dedication, professionalism and leadership.
I also thank every member for your support and contribution to our
remarkable organisation.
As I conclude my term, I do so confident that CPA Australia is well
positioned for its next chapter. It has been one of the great honours
of my professional life to serve as your president and chair. I leave
the role with deep gratitude and every confidence in what we will
continue to achieve together.
