FAST FOCUS
STRONGER COLLABORATION NEEDED
Working closely with other business units can help finance
teams to better understand their challenges, but results
of the 2026 EY Global DNA of the CFO Survey show
collaboration across functions remains limited in finance.
When asked to describe the culture of collaboration
between finance and other functions, less than a third said
it was “open and enabling”, where teams collaborate freely
and routinely, and cross-functional work is encouraged
by leadership.
The greatest barriers to stronger collaboration
between finance and other functional teams include:
• siloed data, systems or processes 19%
• lack of time or space for joint working 17%
• cultural barriers or lack of trust 14%
• gaps in finance’s understanding of other functions 12%
• conflicting priorities, incentives or KPIs between teams 12%
• skills or capability gaps in finance 8%

HUMAN SKILLS DRIVE
JOB GROWTH
Skills like judgement and leadership are becoming
even more critical in the AI era, with the results of
PwC’s 2026 Global AI Jobs Barometer revealing
the technology is reshaping many jobs to require
even more human expertise.
The research, which includes analysis of more
than one billion job ads from six continents, shows
AI is creating a two-track labour market by
“professionalising” some jobs to require more
human skills while “democratising” other jobs
by making them even easier for non-experts to
perform. It shows that professionalised jobs are
growing twice as fast as democratised ones, and
they also have a 42 per cent higher wage growth.
The report reveals that the skills needed for the
most AI-exposed jobs are changing more than
twice as fast as those for the least exposed roles,
and the new tasks added to AI-exposed roles are
more than twice as likely to rely on skills like
empathy, judgement and creativity.
