Organisations are making steady progress toward
embedding sustainability into their operations and
decision-making, with the global BDO Sustainability
Survey 2026 showing governance, stakeholder
management and organisational structures are
becoming increasingly mature.
The results reveal 96 per cent of respondents rate
governance and ethical business practices as their
top sustainability priority. However, 43 per cent
have difficulties with measuring and tracking
the impact of the sustainability initiatives.
“Organisations identified data collection and
reporting, stakeholder management, financing
opportunities and strategic integration as areas
where additional guidance would help accelerate
progress,” says Allan Evans, head of global strategic
projects at BDO. “These are not merely technical
challenges; they are fundamental building blocks
for creating resilient, future-focused organisations.”

PAY TRANSPARENCY BENEFITS
It was once a taboo discussion in the workplace,
but pay transparency is now a growing expectation
among candidates.
Data from Robert Half shows that of the 51 per cent
of employers who include salary details in their job ads,
91 per cent say the information improves the quality of
applications they receive. The main reasons to include
salary details in job ads are to promote transparency
and build trust with candidates (24 per cent), attract
more qualified talent (23 per cent) and to stay
competitive (19 per cent).
“Transparency acts as a natural filter by aligning
salary expectations early, which reduces friction later
in the hiring process,” says Nicole Gorton, director
at Robert Half.
“While some employers may choose not to disclose
salaries upfront due to internal equity concerns,
flexibility needs or evolving role requirements, sharing
a salary range where possible can help set expectations,
support informed discussions and minimise the risk
of misalignment.”
