Self-care for EOFY
End of financial year is a busy time, and it can be easy to let work take over at the expense of health.
Here are six simple ways for accounting and finance professionals to stay focused and prioritise
wellbeing through this period.

TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
EAT WELL
Taking short breaks throughout the day
can boost focus, productivity and overall
performance. A quick stretch, a short walk
or a few minutes of mindfulness go a long
way to reset focus and clear the mind.
It is hard to maintain the energy needed
for busy periods without adequate
nourishment. Healthy eating is essential
to keep focused, so reach for balanced meals
and snack on nuts or fruit instead of relying
on caffeine and sugar.

Delegating is a practice everyone should
embrace. Try and call on others who
understand the pressures of EOFY and
ask for support if needed — both at home
and at work. Alternatively, look at ways
to automate tasks to free up some time.
PRIORITISE SLEEP
BALANCE WORK AND LIFE
CELEBRATE THE WINS
Working too many hours in the day can easily
become the norm during EOFY. Make time
for activities outside of work — exercising
or enjoying a hobby is a great way to recharge
and put work to one side for an hour.
Give credit where credit is due — no matter
how small the win is. Celebrate meeting
a deadline, finishing a major project
or streamlining a task. Acknowledging hard
work can help keep motivation high.
Sleep is one of the best forms of self-care.
Adequate rest improves focus, mental
sharpness and emotional resilience. Try setting
a “bedtime alarm” to hop into bed earlier and
get optimum sleep.
