Welcome to the June 2026 issue of INTHEBLACK.
Advocacy and thought leadership sit at the heart of our purpose
at CPA Australia. We recognise the trust our members place in us
and honour that responsibility with care, conviction and integrity.
We listen closely to our members, respond to their evolving
needs and advocate for their interests and the future of the
profession. Our CEO Chris Freeland AM and our policy leaders
maintain a strong presence in the media, championing priorities
that deliver meaningful outcomes for members, their clients and
the broader community.
Collaboration remains a defining feature of our approach.
By working alongside professional accounting and industry bodies,
we contribute to joint submissions that present a unified and
influential voice. Through consultations, events, webinars and
roundtables, we advocate in the public interest and help shape
informed, balanced policy discussions.
Our advocacy is grounded in a deep understanding of the complex
regulatory environment CPA members navigate. We are committed
to ensuring that due diligence and proportionality remain central to
regulatory expectations. Over the past year, we delivered
a significant body of policy work, including 90 public submissions
across taxation, financial reporting, digital transformation, ESG,
audit and assurance, and economic policy.
This commitment extends to active engagement with
governments, regulators and standard-setters. By doing so,
we ensure that the voice of our members is heard and that we
help shape policies that support sustainable economic growth,
strong businesses and positive social outcomes.
