Stress does not occur in isolation.
All kinds of triggers — from an accident
to an argument — can spark a stress
response, which may snowball,
spreading and escalating into larger
problems. But clinical psychologist
Jenny Taitz says that if people can
create stress, they can also de-escalate
it. She calls these interventions “stress
resets”. In this TED Talk, Taitz shares tips
for reframing stressful moments.
Techniques include practising
half-smiles, reframing negative thoughts
and responding to stress with kindness
instead of anger. With stress affecting
many people, these approaches are
useful for elevating mood and managing
tough times more effectively.

How dating and sports explain

Ethics explainer:
Critical thinking
Organisational transformation
in the age of AI
What does a soccer penalty kick have
to do with economic logic? In this
episode of the If/Then podcast,
Stanford Graduate School of Business
professor Paul Oyer uses this nailbiting
moment of a game to explain
mixed-strategy equilibrium. Top players
such as Lionel Messi randomise their
shots, leaving goalkeepers unable
to predict the direction of the ball.
Oyer also explains how this line of
economic thinking applies to the job
and dating markets. With the FIFA
World Cup capturing global attention,
the episode offers a fun introduction
to the different ways economic
principles shape everyday decisions.
Critical thinking is essential for
navigating today’s “informational
minefield”. An endless stream
of misinformation and questionable
AI-generated content requires people
to verify the truth of what they read
and hear. This article examines the traits
uncritical thinkers embody, contrasting
them with critical thinkers, who question
their own beliefs and scrutinise new
information. Putting theory into
practice, the article presents a scenario
to illustrate the questions and factors
a critical thinker might consider before
reaching a conclusion. It is a useful
resource for developing a skill that
will be increasingly sought after
in the workplace.
This report by the World Economic
Forum shows how organisations
are embedding AI in core workflows.
It focuses on five areas — customer
experience, operations, research and
development, strategic planning
and talent — outlining where AI can
add value and how to apply it.
Case studies from Ford, Siemens,
Google, Unilever and more demonstrate
the benefits of organisational redesign
around AI, including more adaptive
systems, faster decision-making and
greater human focus on judgement
and accountability. These insights
impart valuable lessons for any
organisation seeking to scale AI.
