PYTHON IN EXCEL — PART 1
Python, the popular programming language, is powerful
in data handling and data visualisation, and can now be
entered in an Excel cell. This first article, in a series of
three released over the coming months, outlines the
basics and explains some of the limitations.

Some things are hard to do — or impossible — with Excel’s formulas and functions.
Python can make them possible, or at least easier.
A recent upgrade to Excel now allows operators to use Python code inside an Excel
cell. Python in Excel offers opportunities to access external libraries that have pre-built
solutions for many data-related tasks.
Python should be used when Excel’s formulas and functions cannot provide a solution.
