Welcome to the February/March 2026 issue of INTHEBLACK.
I hope the new year began on a positive note for you after
a well-deserved break with family and friends.
As we look ahead in 2026, one thing is clear: accountants and
finance professionals are reshaping their roles in ways we have
never seen before.
Technology, regulation and rising stakeholder expectations are
transforming how organisations operate. Clients are becoming
more informed about what they expect from their advisers, with
many even using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help frame
the questions they ask.
In this environment, adaptability and foresight are just as
important as technical expertise.
Automation is changing the way we work and removing many
repetitive tasks. Yet success is not about chasing the newest
AI trend, but using AI with intention to create productivity gains
and sharper strategic insights.
Technology can provide information, but it is human judgement
that assesses risk, challenges assumptions and guides decision-making.
Numbers on their own no longer tell the full story. CPAs who can
translate complex data into clear and compelling narratives will
help their organisations make confident decisions and achieve
sustainable growth.
At CPA Australia, we have always focused on the future and
on stewarding our profession for the next generation. This is why
we are modernising our education programs, launching new micro
credentials for professionals in parallel or complementary fields,
and expanding our sustainability courses, webinars and podcasts.
The future belongs to those who embrace change, commit to
continuous learning and lead with confidence. By building these
skills, CPA members will not only keep pace but help shape the
future of our profession.
