Welcome to the August 2025 issue of INTHEBLACK.
The impact and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) remain
a vibrant topic of discussion among workplaces and governments
worldwide. While automation and AI are reshaping various roles,
the human element remains vital to accounting, particularly regarding
trust, ethics and professional judgment.
Predicting the long-term effects of rapid technological change
is challenging. However, I believe AI will amplify opportunity
in our profession. Accountants should see AI as a collaborative partner
that enhances our skills and opens new avenues for growth.
The main challenge for accountants is adapting to the constantly
evolving landscape. Professionals must develop the skills needed
to embrace the new roles that will emerge from these advancements.
Those who focus on upskilling, ethical AI integration
and workflow redesign will be best positioned to succeed.
Technological literacy is already a core skill for accountants.
Combined with our analytical abilities, financial expertise,
problem-solving skills and creativity, few professions are better
equipped to capitalise on the opportunities that AI presents.
As we navigate this transformative era, we must embrace AI’s
potential while remaining committed to the core values that define
our profession. Together, we can leverage these innovations
to enhance our practice and better serve our clients and communities.

for our 2024 Integrated Report. These awards serve as a benchmark
for our efforts, aligning our work with established best practices

of our communications with stakeholders.
