Hong Kong: Personal AI tools a work security risk
A study from Microsoft and LinkedIn shows eight in 10 knowledge workers in Hong Kong use generative AI tools at work,
higher than the global average of 75 per cent.
While 85 per cent of leaders believe adopting AI is crucial for staying competitive, 66 per cent of employees worry that
their leadership lacks a clear implementation plan, prompting six in 10 employees to take the initiative and bring their
own tools to work, which poses a risk to company data security.
Employees across every age group are bringing their own AI tools to work, with Gen Z leading the charge.

Results of Ranstad’s 2024 Employer Brand Research Global
Report show an attractive salary and benefits package
remain the primary reasons people choose
an employer, followed by work-life balance.
Baby boomers place the highest importance on salary,
while Gen Z value it the least. The third most important
factor is long-term job security, which holds slightly more
significance for those with middle to higher levels of
education compared to those with lower education levels.
A pleasant work atmosphere ranks as the fourth
most important factor, with women and older
generations valuing it more than men and younger
generations, respectively.
Equity has now become the fifth most important driver,
surpassing financial stability, which has moved to
sixth place. Women and Gen Z consider equity to
be significantly more important compared to men.
