It is imperative that government
support small business
Welcome to the March 2025 issue of INTHEBLACK.
For economies to prosper, governments must adopt policies
that incentivise growth by fostering business-friendly environments
where domestic enterprises can thrive while also attracting
international investment.
While some regulation is necessary to maintain stability and
fairness, excessive or poorly designed regulation can hinder
investment, slow innovation and hamper economic progress.
Businesses recognise the importance of a robust regulatory
framework, but a more deregulatory approach can free up the time
and resources that businesses need to focus on their priorities.
Finding the right balance is key.
Businesses have faced increasing regulatory and compliance
demands in recent years, creating both higher costs and greater time
commitments to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
CPA Australia has long advocated for regulatory reform to reduce
complexity and improve efficiency in the provision of advisory
services. The upcoming Asia-Pacific Small Business Survey 2025ā2026,
set for release later this month, highlights that investment
in technology and innovation are a key driver of business success
in the region.
Over its 16-year history, the survey has consistently highlighted
the significance of innovation and technology adoption in achieving
economic success ā a trend that will continue to boost global markets
in the years ahead.
It is imperative that governments support small businesses to
integrate new technologies and seize emerging growth opportunities.
By encouraging emerging entrepreneurs to trust their instincts
without the burden of excessive compliance obligations, we can
create an environment conducive to economic prosperity.
With a move towards more efficient and balanced regulation,
Iām confident greater prosperity awaits us all.
