AN OLYMPIC-SIZED
BUDGET
Hosting the Olympic Games is
a costly endeavour.
In November 2023, the event’s
organising committee announced
a 10 per cent increase to the Paris
2024 Olympic Games’ budget, with
half of the increase due to inflation.
This brings the organising committee
budget to €4.4 billion (A$7.2 billion).
Almost all (96 per cent) of the
budget to organise the Games
comes from the private sector,
including the International Olympic
Committee, partner companies, the
Games ticket office and licensing.
The 2024 Olympic Games will
be held in Paris from 26 July to
11 August.
