WORK IS A
MUST-HAVE
Flexible work options
have become a priority
for most employees.
Poor work–life balance
is also a good enough
reason to quit a job,
according to recruitment
firm Randstad’s latest
Workmonitor report.
DATA SECURITY ON THE RADAR
FOR PAYROLL EXPERTS
Data security has topped
the list of concerns for
payroll experts over the
next two to three years,
according to research
from Automatic Data
Processing (ADP), a payroll
services and workforce
management software firm.
The Potential of Payroll
report surveys more than
1400 business leaders
responsible for payroll to
identify the factors that will
drive global payroll in the
next two to three years.
The report reveals that
cyber security, scaling
operations, legislation
and driving strategy are
the biggest priorities for
payroll senior leaders.
A 61 per cent majority
report that their payroll
operation had been
affected by a cyber
security breach at least
once in the past 24
months. This has led to
44 per cent planning to
improve data security
in the next two years.
Kylie Baullo, managing
director ANZ at ADP, says,
“Organisations are aware
of the urgency of putting
the systems in place to
protect their data. Almost all
– 98 per cent – of the senior
payroll leaders we surveyed
felt that data security had
become more important in
the last 12 months.
“Less than half said they
have a full contingency plan
in place across their business
locations. This lack of action
is a major concern.”
The report surveys
35,000 workers globally,
including more than
1000 Australians. Results
suggest Australia is on
par with global trends.
Flexible working
hours are important
to 83.2 per cent of
Australian respondents
and 82.9 per cent of
respondents globally.
Flexibility about work
locations is a priority for
74.6 per cent of Australian
respondents, compared
to 71 per cent globally.
A 56.6 per cent majority
of Australian respondents
would not accept a job
without a flexible working
option if they thought it
could negatively affect
their work–life balance.
Finally, 48.3 per cent
of Australian respondents
would resign from a job
if it prevented them
enjoying life.
