Employee engagement is vital to business prosperity, with data
from Gallup showing that low engagement costs the global
economy an estimated A$14 trillion and accounts for 9 per cent
of global GDP.
The good news from Gallup’s latest State of the Global
Workplace report is that global employee engagement levels
are at their highest since its measurement began in 2009.
Much of this gain is due to a 7 per cent rebound in
engagement in South Asia, which now leads the world in
employee engagement at 33 per cent.
The bad news is that, “quiet quitting”, or lack of
engagement, and “loud quitting”, which refers to active
disengagement, pose a challenge for employers. In fact,
the majority of the world’s employees are quiet quitting –
putting in the minimum effort required and psychologically
disconnected from their employer.

59% of global employees are

18% of global employees are
“loud” quitting
