CASH FLOW MATTERS FOR SINGAPOREAN SMES
In the face of rising costs, small
businesses in Singapore are using their
savings to keep their business afloat,
according to Xero’s August 2023 report,
Money matters: Navigating the impact
of economic conditions on the cash flow
of Singaporean small businesses.
The report shows that 31 per cent
of Singaporean small business owners
have not been able to pay themselves,
while 19 per cent have used their personal
savings to bolster the business.
In the 12 months to August 2023,
83 per cent of small businesses say cash
flow issues have affected their ability to
grow, hire new staff and make investments.
Despite the challenges, there is also
a sense of optimism, with 81 per cent
saying they feel at least reasonably
upbeat and reassured about their financial
wellbeing. A further 40 per cent say they
feel confident and secure.
